Derby County finally turn up as 'blueprint' message sent after Blackburn surprise
by Keith Wales · Derbyshire LiveJohn Eustace claimed his first victory as Derby County head coach with a 2-1 success over former club, Blackburn Rovers.
Eustace saw his side score two early goals to win for the first time since Boxing Day and give themselves a chance of avoiding relegation.
Craig Forsyth and Ebou Adams put Derby in charge before Makhtar Gueye reduced the deficit - but despite dominating for long periods in the second half, Rovers could not avoid a defeat which damages their play-off ambitions.
Derby had to survive seven minutes of stoppage time but they clung on for a victory that takes them off the bottom of the table and leaves them just four points from safety.
It was certainly a victory to inspire Rams fans, both those watching at Pride Park and those following the club from afar. And, as some admitted, it was one that many of them were not expecting.
Here is what some of them had to say on social media…
Gems: Finally a much needed win! Let’s hope that brings confidence to the team. Great to see Wilson back. We’ve missed him hugely. Hope we can keep hold of him.
Ram in Sweden: Get in! Finally saw the game out! Well done, let's go for it now. We play Stoke at home last game, right?
Dwayne Doyle: Big, big win. First 20 minutes is the blueprint needed to stay up. Defended very well after taking the lead. Up the Rams.
Miguel Kelly: Delighted we beat those lot. That win gives us hope. Hopefully we can get some players back from injury to help with the run in. Come on you Rams.
Cam: Feels good, we should do this more often.
Mariusz Ożga: That was a LOOOOONG 2nd half. Happy it's over.
Daniel Parkin: Did not see that coming, to be honest. Fair play lads. Onwards.
TIMMY: Welcome to 2025, Derby County. We knew you would turn up.
Nick: Let’s do this a few more times now.
