Patrick Agyemang set to take next steps to seal Derby County transfer after medical

by · Derbyshire Live

Patrick Agyemang is flying over to England to finalise his move to Derby County after completing his medical.

The American striker went through the necessary checks with Derby's staff in the States as he inches closer to his £5.8m move from Charlotte FC.

Agyemang will now finalise the final details of the deal here in the UK, which will also include his Visa.

It is a question of completing those last formalities before the deal can be officially announced.

Agyemang was not involved in training with Charlotte FC earlier today ahead of his impending arrival at Pride Park.

Derby have had to be patient, given the player has only just returned from international duty with the USA, having featured prominently in their run to the Gold Cup final, where they were beaten by Mexico.

He is set to become Derby's fifth summer signing, and the move is a significant commitment to strengthening their attack for next season.

Derby have already paid an undisclosed fee for Luton striker Carlton Morris while Andi Weimann, Danny Batth and Richard O'Donnell have all arrived on free transfers.

The arrival of Agyemang will generate plenty of attention both here and in the States with the forward having been regarded as hot property in the MLS.

Ipswich Town were linked with the forward while Luton had reportedly seen a bid rejected for the 24-year-old in January.

Over the last 24 hours, Nice were said to be his latest admirer, although reports in France claimed that they would have to sell players first before they could buy.
