John Eustace in Derby County change for West Brom clash as fears allayed over winger
by Leigh Curtis · Derbyshire LiveJohn Eustace made one change to his Derby County starting XI as the Rams went in search of a win at playoff-chasing West Brom this afternoon.
Liam Thompson is recalled to the team in place of Nathaniel Mendez-Laing who makes the bench in what is the only alteration to the team which lost to Luton Town on Good Friday.
It was feared Mendez-Laing would be sidelined for today's trip to the Hawthorns after he was taken to hospital on Friday with what was feared to be a fractured eye socket.
But after undergoing further inspection, the winger is fine to be involved and takes his place among the subs with Derby hoping to secure a result that keeps them out of the Championship bottom three.
In what will be a 3-5-2 formation, Josh Vickers is in goal and continues in place of Jacob Widell Zetterstrom who is out for the campaign with a fractured eye socket.
The centre-backs will be Sondre Langas, Matt Clarke and Nat Phillips with Kane Wilson and Craig Forsyth continuing in the wing-back positions. Callum Elder still remains on the sidelines.
In midfield are Ebou Adams, Harrison Armstrong and Thompson while Marcus Harness will play just off Jerry Yates who leads the line up front.
On the subs bench are Tom Barkhuizen, Ben Osborn, Mendez-Laing, Kenzo Goudmijn, Kayden Jackson, Jake Rooney, Lennon Wheeldon, Mendez-Laing and Rohan Luthra.
Derby: Vickers; Wilson, Langas, Phillips, Clarke, Forsyth; Adams, Thompson, Armstrong; Harness and Yates.
Subs: Barkhuizen, Osborn, Mendez-Laing, Goudmijn, Jackson, Rooney, Wheeldon, Mendez-Laing and Luthra.
