'Difficult' Derby County admission as Scott Parker hatches Burnley plan for Rams

by · Derbyshire Live

Burnley boss Scott Parker immediately set his sights on Derby County after his side took over at the top of the Championship.

The Clarets beat Coventry City 2-1 at the CBS Arena on Saturday thanks to a double from Jaidon Anthony and moved ahead of Sheffield United and Leeds United, who both dropped points in the race for the title.

The Rams host the table-toppers at Pride Park on Tuesday (7:45pm), after John Eustace’s side lost 1-0 to Swansea on Saturday, and Parker is targeting another big step towards the Premier League.

“We’ll always enjoy these moments,” he said, speaking after victory over Coventry.

“This is what they do it for so I’m always a firm believer of enjoy your moments when you win. That’s exactly what we need to do, a massive result here.

“For the players for the effort they’ve put in, not just today, over the course of it, they deserve that for sure, to enjoy these moments, like we all do. A lot of work, a lot of hours go in constantly, this football club are working tirelessly.

“Sometimes when you’re in football there’s those good moments and there’s obviously those bad moments, I’m always a firm believer to enjoy them but as quickly as I say that we get back to a level ground now.

“Tomorrow morning we’ll be back into work taking each game as it comes. That’s been a very consistent theme over the course of this year.

“This one’s boxed off, there’s six left and we’re in an incredible place, these players are in an incredible place, with huge commitment, huge quality at times as well. So, we’ll move now onto Derby, and we’ll try and box that off as well if we can.”

Two-goal Anthony added: "We want to win every game and it's the same again on Tuesday. It's a difficult place to go but we get back to work Monday and then we go again."
