June 7 (UPI) -- Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty ran right by Preakness Stakes winner Journalism at mid-stretch and charged on to a definitive victory in Saturday's $2 million, Grade I Belmont Stakes at Saratoga Race Course in New York.

Sovereignty has won the 157th Belmont Stakes, racing past Journalism to take the victory much like it did during the Kentucky Derby earlier this year.

Sovereignty tried his damndest to deliver a perfect imitation of his winning Derby run at Saratoga on Saturday, and he succeeded brilliantly. He ran a perfect race.
