One of the world's most popular messaging apps, WhatsApp, is seeing worldwide disruption this afternoon.

Starting around 3:30pm GMT, over 100,000 people have logged issues with the tech website DownDetector.

While the issue is being reported in countries like the US and France, many Brits rely on WhatsApp over other messaging services, so the bulk of the reports are coming in from cities like Glasgow, Manchester, and London.

WhatsApp's parent company, Meta, has yet to respond to reports of the outage.

Many users flocked to other social media sites like X (formerly Twitter) to see if they were the only ones experiencing issues.

55% of the users reported issues sending messages, 34% reported issues with server connection and 11% reported issues with the app overall.
