  • A new video gives us a closer look at the Samsung Galaxy tri-fold from all sides
  • You can see that it has big bezels and a separate cover screen
  • It also has the same camera layout as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7

Not long ago, Samsung provided the world with an official look at its upcoming tri-fold smartphone, but the device was in a glass case, and views of it were restricted. Now, though, a South Korean publication has released a video providing a closer – though still hands-off – look at the phone.

OMG Electronics and SubusuNews (via NotebookCheck) have released a YouTube video, which you can see below, showing – among other things – just how thick the bezels around the Samsung Galaxy tri-fold’s display appear to be.

The bezels appear far thicker than on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 or other premium phones, which is disappointing given that this is likely to be one of the most expensive handsets on the planet. Still, it’s Samsung’s first attempt at a tri-fold handset, so it’s likely that later versions will have more polished designs.

We can also see from the video that both foldable screen sections fold inward, which means when it’s folded shut, the main display is hidden away and protected. That’s similar to Samsung’s approach on the Galaxy Z Fold series but different from the tri-fold Huawei Mate XT, which folds in such a way that a third of its screen can serve as a cover display.

That means the Mate XT’s screen is less protected, but also means it doesn’t need a separate cover display, whereas the Samsung Galaxy tri-fold does have a separate cover screen.

Big screens and a slim build

In any case, other details shown off here include that the cover screen is apparently 6.5 inches, while the foldable screen is said to be 10 inches.

You can also see that, when unfolded, the Samsung Galaxy tri-fold might be even slimmer than the 4.2mm Galaxy Z Fold 7, but when folded shut, it appears slightly thicker than that phone’s 8.9mm. That’s unsurprising, though, since there are three sections to the Galaxy tri-fold rather than just two.
