Exact counties to hit 17 degrees as Met Eireann speak on future of warm weather

Temperatures are expected to climb this week, with certain areas reaching 17 degrees.

Met Eireann explained that settled weather will remain into next week, before a slight trend towards low pressure anomalies arrives.

The midlands and Connacht will reach 16 degrees on Thursday, 20 March, while Clare will hit 17 degrees - you can see exact weather maps down below.

Between Monday, 24 March to Sunday, 30 March, the outlook period is expected to see the warmer trend continue with higher than typical temperatures achieved.

They explained that it will be mainly dry with light winds.

Moving into the next week, Monday 7 April to Sunday 13 April, there is equal likelihood of settled and unsettled weather.

Met Eireann said: “Mean air temperatures are expected to be near or slightly above the April average. Rainfall amounts are predicted to be near-normal, perhaps slightly above the climatological average in the south of the country.”

Between Monday, 14 April to Sunday, 20 April, there is a slight trend towards low pressure anomalies becoming prevalent over Ireland.

Met.ie wrote: “Mean air temperatures are likely to trend slightly above normal whilst there is a weak signal for above normal precipitation totals across the country.”

Tuesday, 18 March

Mainly dry today with just isolated showers in the southwest. Most places will see a gradual increase in sunny spells this afternoon, although some cloud will linger across parts of the west and southwest. Highest temperatures 7 to 10 degrees in mostly moderate east to southeast winds, fresh near western and southern coasts, easing this evening.

Dry, cold and mostly clear tonight. Some frost is expected with lowest temperatures of -2 to +4 degrees, in a light easterly or variable breeze. A few mist and fog patches may also develop.

Wednesday, 19 March

Any frost, mist and fog soon clearing to a dry and mostly sunny day on Wednesday, although some patchy cloud may affect southern coastal counties at times. Highest temperatures 11 to 15 degrees, in mostly light easterly breezes, but moderate, occasionally fresh, in Munster.

Dry and clear to start Wednesday night, becoming cloudier towards morning. Lowest temperatures plus 1 to 6 degrees, coldest in the north. Some mist and fog patches will form in light easterly breezes.

Mainly dry with sunny spells on Thursday. Highest temperatures 13 to 16 degrees generally in light to moderate southeast breezes.

Dry with clear spells at first. Cloud will build from the south through the night. Lowest temperatures 7 to 10 degrees in moderate easterly winds.

Turning unsettled from Friday with showers expected to develop in the south at first, becoming widespread later. Highest temperatures 13 to 15 degrees in moderate to fresh southeasterly winds.

Saturday, 22 March

There'll be further scattered showers on Saturday with temperatures of 13 or 14 degrees in light to moderate southeast or variable breezes.

Sunday, 23 March and Monday, 24 March

Current indications suggest that the weather will continue unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain for Sunday and Monday.
