There’s a long running debate about when Spring officially begins, but meteorological Spring starts this Saturday, 1 March, and it (hopefully) marks a change in the unsettled weather we’ve experienced all winter.

According to the latest national forecast from Met Eireann early March will be “rather settled with just occasional light rain or drizzle”.

Check out the full forecast for the coming days below:

Friday 28th February

A cold start to Friday, with frost, ice, mist clearing in the morning. It will be a largely dry day with plenty of sunshine for a time, turning hazy later as cloud increases from the west. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees with mostly light to moderate southerly winds, increasing fresh to strong in western and northwestern coastal parts.

Friday night:

After a dry start, outbreaks of rain will develop in the northwest and will extend across much of Ulster, Connacht and west Munster overnight. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 7 degrees, coldest in the southeast, with light to moderate southerly winds.

Saturday:

The rain will continue moving southeast across the rest of the country on Saturday morning, becoming lighter and patchy as it does so, and will be followed by drier and brighter weather. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees with light to moderate southerly winds, turning northwesterly after the rain.

Saturday night:

Dry with clear spells. Some frost and icy patches will form with lowest temperatures of -2 to +3 degrees. Patches of mist and fog will develop too in light and variable winds.

Sunday:

Generally dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees with light to moderate southwesterly winds, fresh at times near Atlantic coasts.

Sunday night:

Becoming cloudier, with some patchy light rain or drizzle in the west and north. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 8 degrees, coldest in the southeast, with light to moderate southwesterly winds.

Monday:

Rather cloudy with patchy light rain or drizzle in the north and west. Drier with some brighter spells in the south. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees with light to moderate southwesterly winds.
