by · RSVP Live

After a chilly few days, temperatures are set to warm up as highs of 17 degrees are expected in parts of the country in the coming days.

However, enjoy dry, bright weather while it lasts as conditions will take a turn for the worst very soon.

Things will turn unsettled and rainy as we move towards the weekend, with Met Eireann indicating that widespread showers will spread across the country from Friday.

The wet weather isn't due to last for too long though, as the national forecaster predicts things will go back to being dry and sunny on Monday.

Here's everything you need to know about the weather forecast for the next few days.

Today (Wednesday 19th March)

Early morning frost, mist and fog will clear to leave a dry and mostly sunny day, although some patchy cloud may affect southern coastal counties at times. Highest temperatures 11 to 15 degrees, in mostly light east to southeasterly breezes, but moderate, occasionally fresh, in Munster. Dry and mostly clear to start tonight, becoming cloudier towards morning. Lowest temperatures -1 to 6 degrees, coldest in the north with some frost. Some mist and fog patches will form too in light easterly or variable breezes.

Tomorrow (Thursday 20th March)

Dry with sunny spells tomorrow. Highest temperatures 13 to 17 degrees in moderate southeast breezes, fresher near western and southwestern costs. Dry for most parts tomorrow night with clear spells at first. However, cloud will build from the south through the night, bringing a few showers to southern parts of Munster and Leinster. Lowest temperatures 7 to 10 degrees in moderate to fresh southeasterly winds.

Friday 21st March

Turning unsettled generally from Friday with showers in the south at first, becoming more widespread through the day. Highest temperatures 12 to 15 degrees in moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds. There'll be further showers or longer spells of rain on Friday night with lows of 6 to 9 degrees.

Weekend

The weekend will also bring showers or occasional rain. It will start mild with temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees on Saturday, but it will be cooler on Sunday as northerly breezes set in.

Showers will become more scattered later in the weekend, and current indications suggest, that Monday will be largely dry and bright with a mix of cloud and some sunny spells.
