Ireland weather: Mini-heatwave to continue over coming days, but temperatures to dip overnight
by Cathal Ryan · Irish MirrorThe mini-heatwave is set to continue into next week, with highs of 18C, but temperatures will dip overnight, reaching as low as 1C.
Met Éireann forecasters have said high pressure will remain over the coming week with the generally dry and sunny conditions continuing.
While it will stay cool at first, with the mercury hitting around 16C for Sunday and Monday, temperatures will gradually increase as the week progresses, with only the odd shower forecast for later on in the week.
Here is Met Éireann’s forecast for the rest of the Bank Holiday weekend, and the coming week:
Sunday
Varying cloud amounts and sunny spells for the rest of today. Dry for most with just the odd spot of light rain or drizzle. Light to moderate northeasterly breezes.
Tonight will be dry with clear spells. It'll be quite cold with lowest temperatures of 1C to 5C, maybe touching zero locally with some grass frost possible, in a mainly light northeasterly breeze.
Monday
Bank Holiday Monday will be a dry day with spells of sunshine, though cloud will build at times into the afternoon. Highest temperatures will range from a cool 11C near the east coast up to 16C in parts of the west and southwest all in light northeasterly breezes.
Dry with long clear spells developing overnight. Lowest temperatures of 1C to 5C so there is a chance of some grass frost in a light variable breeze.
Tuesday
A dry day with spells of sunshine, though once again cloud will bubble through the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 12C to 16C in a light southeasterly or variable breeze.
Largely clear on Tuesday night, though a few mist and fog patches are possible. Lowest temperatures of 3C to 7C in light winds.
Wednesday
Staying dry and bright with sunny spells, though there is the chance of an odd light shower. Feeling milder with highest temperatures of 14C to 18C in light to moderate northeast winds.
Thursday
Another dry day with sunny spells and just one or two light showers. Highest temperatures of 13C to 17C, a little cooler near eastern coasts, in moderate easterly winds.
Further outlook
Warm through Friday and the weekend with plenty of dry and sunny weather, though the occasional shower or patch of light rain is possible.
