Ireland weather: Temperatures to soar to glorious 17C before washout weekend
by Cathal Ryan · Irish MirrorTemperatures are expected to shoot up over the coming days, but this bright weather won’t last as conditions are expected to take a turn for the worse.
Although Ireland was hit with a few chilly days over this week, Met Éireann has forecast highs of 17C this Thursday, with sunny spells shining through.
Enjoy it while you can though, as the national forecaster has warned that the weather will turn unsettled and rainy moving into the weekend, with widespread showers set to spread across the country from Friday
While Ireland is in store for an absolute washout of a weekend, with showers poised for both Saturday and Sunday, current indications suggest that Monday will be largely dry and bright with a mix of cloud and some sunny spells.
Here is Met Éireann’s weather forecast for the next few days:
Wednesday
Early morning frost, mist and fog will clear to leave a dry and mostly sunny day, although some patchy cloud may affect southern coastal counties at times.
Highest temperatures 11C to 15C, in mostly light east to southeasterly breezes, but moderate, occasionally fresh, in Munster.
Dry and mostly clear to start tonight, becoming cloudier towards morning. Lowest temperatures -1C to 6C, coldest in the north with some frost. Some mist and fog patches will form too in light easterly or variable breezes.
Thursday
Dry with sunny spells tomorrow. Highest temperatures 13C to 17C in moderate southeast breezes, fresher near western and southwestern costs.
Dry for most parts tomorrow night with clear spells at first. However, clouds will build from the south through the night, bringing a few showers to southern parts of Munster and Leinster. Lowest temperatures 7C to 10C in moderate to fresh southeasterly winds.
Friday
Turning unsettled generally from Friday with showers in the south at first, becoming more widespread through the day. Highest temperatures 12C to 15C in moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds.
There'll be further showers or longer spells of rain on Friday night with lows of 6C to 9C.
Weekend
The weekend will also bring showers or occasional rain. It will start mild with temperatures of 10C to 14C on Saturday, but it will be cooler on Sunday as northerly breezes set in.
Showers will become more scattered later in the weekend, and current indications suggest that Monday will be largely dry and bright with a mix of cloud and some sunny spells.
