Here’s Everything to Know About the New iPhone

A new camera update makes it the first camera for photographers.

We’re on the ground at the new Apple presentation, ‘Surprise and Shine’, marking the debut of new CEO John Ternuand, and news just broke about the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable phone. Apple has sharpened its formula even more with a newly engineered A20 Pro chip, a reimagined Siri, and an advanced camera system that introduces variable aperture to the iPhone. Headlining the event was Apple’s long-rumored foldable, titanium-constructed smartphone that supports Apple Pencil and split-screen multitasking. Here are our key takeaways:

iPhone 18 Pro & iPhone 18 Pro Max

Apple

The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 (256GB), offering 512GB, 1TB, and introducing a new 2 TB storage option. The iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299 (256GB). Pre-orders start Saturday, September 12th, becoming officially available on Friday, September 18th.

New Finishes:

- The iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max come in four new finishes: ‘an incredibly deep black’, a refined silver, burgundy, and a new blue named ‘glacier’ — with color-matched aluminum and back glass for their most cohesive look yet.

Siri AI:

- Equipped with Siri AI, rolling out in beta with iOS 27.

- Siri AI is an entirely new version of Siri powered by Apple Intelligence that is more personal, capable, and conversational.

- Siri AI helps users find what they need in the moment across messages, photos, emails, and more, by drawing on personal context understanding.

Display & Performance:

- Newly engineered A20 Pro chip with advanced CPU and GPU cores, alongside a second Neural Engine.

- The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max offer the longest battery life yet, with up to 36 hours and 45 hours of video playback on eSIM-only models.

Camera Upgrades:

- The new 48MP Fusion Main camera introduces variable aperture, the most advanced camera Apple has made, allowing for ultimate creative control, and improved low-light and Night Mode capture.

- New Pro controls in the Camera app allow for more manual control. Users will now be able to adjust settings such as lens aperture, shutter speed, and white balance, and use a histogram to check exposure levels while shooting.

- On-device AI models lock onto subjects and maintain focus, even if depth changes or subjects move.

- Cinematic Mode for video supports up to 60fps, 4K Dolby Vision HDR time-lapses, and updated audio mix algorithms for voice recording with background noise.

- Users will now be able to prove the authenticity of a photo taken on iPhone 18 Pro models with Apple Reference Image.

- With SynthID and image metadata, users can also identify images edited or generated with AI.
