Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Malaysia pre-order - 200MP Camera and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, starting price at RM6799

Samsung Electronics has officially unveiled the Galaxy S26 series, positioning it as its most intuitive and proactive AI-powered smartphone lineup yet. Among the lineup, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is the highlight of the Galaxy Unpacked event. Without further ado, here's everything you need to know about the ultra variant, including the tech specs, prices and availability.

The Exterior Features

As the biggest one of them all, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra features a 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. The panel supports Vision Booster technology, enhancing visibility under bright outdoor conditions. When measured diagonally, the screen size is 6.9 inches in the full rectangle and 6.7 inches, accounting for the rounded corners, with the actual viewable area slightly reduced due to the curved edges and front camera cutout.

We reported before about Privacy Display, and it's a new feature. To recap, it works at a pixel level to limit side-angle visibility while maintaining clarity for the primary user. Unlike traditional privacy screen protectors, this integrated solution preserves full viewing quality when inactive and allows customizable privacy levels when activated. Users can enable it automatically for sensitive tasks such as entering passwords or accessing specific apps.

Despite its large display, the Galaxy S26 Ultra maintains a relatively slim 7.9mm profile and weighs 214g. The device measures 163.6mm in height and 78.1mm in width, balancing a premium in-hand feel with a substantial screen presence. It carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, meaning it can withstand submersion in up to 1.5 metres of freshwater for up to 30 minutes under laboratory conditions.

200MP Main Camera Quad Setup

Photography remains central to the Ultra series, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra continues that focus with a 200MP wide camera featuring an F1.4 aperture and 2x optical quality zoom enabled by Samsung’s Adaptive Pixel sensor. Complementing it is a 50MP ultra-wide camera with an F1.9 aperture for expansive shots.

Telephoto capabilities are split across two dedicated sensors. A 50MP telephoto lens offers 5x optical zoom and 10x optical quality zoom at F2.9, while an additional 10MP telephoto camera delivers 3x optical zoom at F2.4. On the front, a 12MP camera with an F2.2 aperture handles selfies and video calls, rounding out a highly versatile imaging system.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy and Battery Capabilities

As expected, powering the Galaxy S26 Ultra is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, a customised flagship processor tuned for enhanced performance, AI capabilities and power efficiency. The device is available in configurations offering up to 16GB of RAM paired with 1TB of storage, as well as a 12GB RAM and 512GB storage option. To sustain peak performance, Samsung redesigned the Vapour Chamber cooling system with improved thermal materials that spread heat more efficiently.

In addition, the Galaxy S26 Ultra houses a 5000mAh battery, with wired charging delivering up to 75% charge in around 30 minutes when paired with a 60W adapter, while Super Fast Wireless Charging is also supported. Wireless PowerShare enables the device to charge compatible smartphones and wearables, subject to battery level and compatibility requirements.

Galaxy AI, Android 16 and Next-Gen Connectivity

The Galaxy S26 series introduces features such as Now Nudge, which provides contextual suggestions based on messages and activities, and Now Brief, which surfaces reminders and travel updates tailored to personal schedules. Circle to Search with Google has been upgraded to recognise multiple objects within a single image, enabling deeper exploration in one search. Bixby has also evolved into a more conversational assistant capable of understanding natural language for device navigation and settings adjustments.

The S26 series integrates multiple AI agents, including Gemini and Perplexity, allowing users to complete tasks such as booking services or searching for information through voice prompts or a single button press. Out of the box, the Galaxy S26 Ultra runs Android 16 with Samsung’s One UI 8.5 layered on top, introducing the latest software refinements and ecosystem features. Connectivity options include 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth 6.0. With Wi-Fi 7 support, the device is equipped for next-generation wireless networking speeds, provided users have compatible infrastructure.
