Renders of Samsung's Project Moohan Galaxy XR headset have leaked
If you're interested in virtual reality or extended reality (XR) apps, you may have heard of Samsung's Project Moohan. It was previously reported that Samsung could launch its XR headset on 21 October 2025. The likelihood is now higher as renders of the product have surfaced online.
Design fully revealed
Thanks to Android Headlines, we have our first glimpse of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy XR, also known as Project Moohan. Based on the renders, the Galaxy XR features six cameras and an LED indicator. The inside has a large cushion area for the user's forehead, two 'light shields' to block out light coming in from the sides, a speaker on both the left and right temples, and more cushioning for the back of the user's head.
Weighing 545g, the Galaxy XR is lighter than the much more premium Apple Vision Pro (600–650g). Like many current headsets on the market, this one uses an external battery that's rated for up to 2 hours of general use. It was also confirmed that Samsung's new headset sports a Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset, while the display (lenses) is a 4K micro-OLED that can output 29MP pixels.
Samsung One UI XR
For the user interface, the Galaxy XR will be Samsung's own customised One UI XR. How it functions wasn't revealed, but we can confirm it's based on Android XR. If you've seen Android tablets or Samsung's One UI, the One UI XR should look rather familiar. However, expect this UI to be more optimised for hand gestures via the two Galaxy XR controllers.
On schedule for Oct 2025 launch?
With these renders appearing online, you get the feeling that Samsung is ready to launch it. Of course, we have no way to confirm the launch date or prices yet. There's also no guarantee the Galaxy XR will be officially released in Malaysia. After all, XR and VR devices aren't in high demand here.
