by Saumya Shubham Jha · India TodayTata Motors has launched the updated 2026 version of the Tata Tiago in India at a starting price of Rs 4.69 lakh (ex-showroom). The hatchback receives its second major facelift since its debut over a decade ago, bringing a sharper design language, a reworked cabin and a stronger equipment list while continuing with the same petrol and CNG powertrain options.
The refreshed Tiago takes on rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios in the entry-level hatchback segment.
Exterior design
At the front, the facelifted Tiago adopts a more upright and contemporary appearance with sleeker headlamps, a slimmer grille positioned higher up and a redesigned bumper featuring a larger central air intake.
The profile remains largely unchanged apart from newly designed 15-inch alloy wheels and revised wheel-arch cladding.
The rear section has also been updated with connected tail-lamps, a subtler roof spoiler and a cleaner bumper design. Buyers can choose from six exterior shades – Daytona Grey, Pangong Pulse, Pristine White, Pure Grey, Sobo Surge and Varanasi Vibrance.
Interior design
Inside the cabin, the Tiago gets a significantly revised dashboard layout with a flatter and more modern design theme. Tata has removed the traditional instrument binnacle, while the centre console and two-spoke steering wheel have also been updated. AMT-equipped variants now feature a rotary gear selector for a cleaner look.
Feature additions include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital driver’s display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual wireless phone chargers, rear AC vents, connected car technology, cruise control, a cooled glovebox and a four-speaker audio setup.
Safety
Safety equipment has also been enhanced with six airbags, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child-seat mounts.
Powertrain options
Powering the hatchback is the familiar 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, offered in both petrol and CNG forms. The petrol version develops 86hp, while the CNG derivative produces 75.5hp. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. Tata has also introduced paddle shifters on the Tiago CNG AMT, a first for the segment.
With the latest update, Tata aims to keep the Tiago competitive by combining a more premium appearance with additional technology and safety features, while retaining the practicality and affordability that have made the hatchback a popular choice in India.
