A Reddit user has triggered a debate on workplace gender dynamics after he expressed frustration over what he perceives as unfair treatment between men and women at his office.

In his post titled “I feel like my workplace is triggering my misogyny”, the man described himself as a “fairly feminist person” up until several experiences that he faced at his workplace of late.

“I am a 24 year old male. I am fairly feminist person (up until now). But ever since I have stepped into workplace, I can see the difference in how men and women are treated,” he said in his now-viral Reddit post.

He detailed several instances where he believes women received preferential treatment at his workplace, including lighter consequences for workplace mistakes and shorter working hours.

Citing examples, he said, “Women getting easy rap on the knuckles for the same mistakes that can cause huge issues for men. Women doing exactly 9-5 whereas men are expected to pull 14-15 hour workdays without any extra compensation. ‘Seniors’ and bosses taking extra time to teach them and educate them about stuff, but men are expected to learn by themselves. After all of these promotion times women are considered.”

He concluded his post by saying that he doesn’t “hate women, also am not a loser who points at women for his own failures.”

“This phenomenon was even acknowledged by close women I know, It's kind of a given that a good looking woman will be promoted without any skills. Kinda sad about this situation, either you have to be the best and give your whole life or be sidelined your whole life,” he added.

Take a look at his post here:

In the comments section of the post, social media users engaged in a heated discussion over his take.

“By your weird and biased logic OP, women should be up in arms about men getting promotions all the time too. We do lose out on many professional opportunities because of the societal expectations thrust on us,” a user said.

Another user added, “You should hate your workplace, not women. Hate your bosses who are exploiting men. Not women. It's as simple as that.”

Some users also shared their personal experiences.

“As a woman, I agree with everything except for working hours. Maybe good looking or women who are quite close get to work less, rest of us who are of no use to perverts or female managers (to sing their praises) do work long hrs,” a comment read.

Another user added in a sarcastic note, “Please tell me which office this is. Will they hire me? I’m a woman, and I’ve faced the exact opposite of this at work.”
