- All new Samsung phones will be powered by Galaxy AI
- Galaxy AI will reportedly be available for free only until the end of 2025
Samsung will be hosting the Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday, January 22, at 11.30PM IST. At the event, the company is expected to launch three smartphones: the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung also unveiled the highly-anticipated Galaxy S25 Slim, but that may only be available some time in May this year. Besides the phones, the South Korean giant may also talk about the next-generation Galaxy Ring. However, at the heart of any device the company launches at the event, will be Galaxy AI.
Galaxy AI is Samsung's own AI tools and software that are embedded across its devices, including smartphones and tablets. It powers several features on the device, like Bixby, Samsung voice assistant, contextual suggestions, image recognition, etc. These features are meant to make the experience on the device more intuitive and smarter. With the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy AI debuted for the first time and the features and tools were available on the smartphones for free.
However, according to recently leaked marketing material that was first shared by Evleaks, this year, Galaxy AI will be available for free for Galaxy S25 users only until the end of this year. Starting in 2026, users may have to start paying for the features.
With the Galaxy S24, Samsung had promised to make Galaxy AI features available for free for two years. On the basis of that, the report seems legitimate.
This also means that by 2026, all Samsung users –– whether using the Galaxy S24 smartphones, the Galaxy Z-series foldables or the upcoming Galaxy S25 series –– will no longer have free access to Galaxy AI.
Currently, it is unclear how Samsung will be charging for these features. There is no clarity about whether Galaxy AI will be available on a subscription basis or it will be a suite that you make a one-time purchase for. We will know about it all soon enough though, as the Galaxy Unpacked is just hours away.
As for subscriptions, Samsung is also rumoured to be kicking off its subscription plan for renting out the new Galaxy S25 series. However, this subscription plan is said to be made available only to customers in South Korea for now.
