by Auto Today · India TodayVolvo Car India has launched the updated XC60 SUV at Rs 71.90 lakh (ex-showroom), bringing a fresh dose of Scandinavian sophistication to the segment. This is the second facelift for the current-generation XC60, coming three years after its last update and just five months after the global unveil. The SUV continues to arrive via the CKD route and is locally assembled at Volvo’s Bengaluru facility.
Design updates
While the silhouette remains largely unchanged, the 2025 XC60 gets subtle cosmetic enhancements including a revised front bumper, a new diagonal-slat grille, and fresh dual-tone alloy wheels. The tail-lamps now feature a smoked effect, aligning the SUV’s look closer to Volvo’s XC90 flagship.
Customers can choose from seven exterior shades: Crystal White, Vapour Grey, Forest Lake, Mulberry Red, Onyx Black, Denim Blue, and Bright Dusk.
Interior
Inside, the luxury quotient sees a significant step up. The cabin now features a new blond interior theme with Charcoal Nappa leather seats, genuine wood inlays uniquely shaped by natural forces, and precision-crafted chrome-accented air vents. The dashboard is tailored with meticulous stitching and contrasting seams, enhancing its bespoke Scandinavian appeal.
The centrepiece of the cabin is a larger 11.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon Cockpit platform. This setup boasts 2x faster processing speeds, 10x better graphics, and a 21% improvement in pixel density. It also integrates Google Built-In services for seamless connectivity. A 12.3-inch digital driver’s display complements the tech suite.
Volvo has also equipped the SUV with a 1,410W Bowers & Wilkins sound system with 15 speakers, offering immersive listening experiences through Studio, Concert Hall, and Jazz Club modes.
Adding to the in-cabin comfort is a 10-point massage function for the front seats, with five unique programs, three speed levels, and adjustable intensity. The XC60 also features a PM2.5 air purifier that eliminates up to 95% of particulate matter, a panoramic sunroof, and four-zone climate control.
Powertrain
Mechanically, the XC60 facelift remains unchanged. It continues to be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 250bhp and 360Nm, paired with an 8-speed torque converter automatic and an all-wheel-drive setup. A 48V mild-hybrid system aids efficiency and provides smoother acceleration.
The updated XC60 takes on rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, and Audi Q5. With its refreshed aesthetics, advanced technology, and opulent interior, Volvo is positioning the XC60 as a more compelling choice for buyers seeking a premium midsize luxury SUV with a unique Scandinavian identity.
With over 2.7 million global units sold, the XC60 remains Volvo’s best-selling model ever, surpassing the legendary Volvo 240. The updated version is expected to further cement its popularity.
