Apple has launched its new HomeView device in India alongside the HomePod Mini 2 and Apple TV 4K, bringing together a smart home control panel, entertainment system and video-calling device in a single product. Priced at Rs 39,900, the new device features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display, an upgraded Siri AI assistant and personalised experiences for different members of a household. Pre-orders for Apple HomeView begin on October 13, with sales starting November 13. The device comes in four colours: silver, starlight, rose pink and space grey. Apple is also offering a wall-mounted version for users who want to install the device in spaces such as hallways and entryways.

Apple says that the idea behind HomeView is to give families a shared screen for everyday tasks while allowing each person to access their own messages, reminders, calendar entries and other personal information. Here is everything you need to know about the latest Apple product.

A look at Apple's new smart speaker.

Apple announces HomeView: What it does?

One of the biggest features of HomeView is Siri AI, a redesigned version of Apple's voice assistant that promises more natural conversations and a better understanding of requests. Users can ask questions, discover music and get information without having to pick up their iPhones.

When paired with a compatible iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence, Siri AI can also use personal context from apps such as Messages and Calendar to provide more relevant responses and help users complete tasks.

HomeView recognises up to six people through facial recognition, allowing it to display a personalised Home Screen with individual apps and widgets. However, personal information is only displayed when the recognised user is nearby with their paired iPhone or iPad present and recently unlocked.

Apple says privacy remains central to the product, with protections designed to keep personal information separate for each household member. Beyond its AI features, HomeView is designed to handle several everyday tasks around the house. Users can make FaceTime calls, send and reply to messages, listen to Apple Music and podcasts, and access supported video and audio apps.

Its speaker system includes two full-range drivers, a down-firing woofer and passive radiators. Apple says computational audio adjusts sound output in real time to maintain sound quality at different volume levels.

The device could also be useful in the kitchen. Users can pull up recipes, follow step-by-step cooking instructions, set timers and manage ingredient tracking using voice commands. With Handoff, they can transfer music playing on an iPhone to HomeView by bringing the phone close to the display.

For smart home management, the device allows users to control compatible lights, thermostats, locks and blinds. It can also display live feeds from up to nine cameras at once, making it easier to check on pets, deliveries or activity around the home.

With compatible cameras and an iCloud+ subscription, HomeView can offer additional security features, including alerts about familiar faces, pets, packages and vehicles. It can also detect smoke or carbon monoxide alarm sounds and send alerts to an iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch.
