by Akshay Kulkarni · RushLaneRenault India has just updated their entry level offering in the country, the Kwid. As part of the MY26 update, Kwid has received slight aesthetic revisions along with some functional revisions. On top of these, Renault has streamlined the variant lineup and has rejigged the prices as well, in an attempt to make buying decision easier.
2026 Renault Kwid
While the speculations suggested a full-on facelift, what was launched in the country, is a subtle update. Renault continues to cater to first time car buyers and buyers upgrading from motorcycles with this updated Kwid. Since its debut in 2015, there have been around 4.5 lakh Kwid customers in India.
With this MY26 update, Kwid is now offered in just two trim levels across four variants. The trim levels are Evolution and Climber and each one of them are offered with either a Manual or an AMT gearbox option. Pricing for Evolution Manual is Rs 4.53 lakh, Evolution AMT is Rs 4.9 lakh, Climber Manual is Rs 5.15 lakh and Climber AMT is Rs 5.61 lakh (all prices Ex-sh).
Renault is running a new online sales and pricing strategy where Climber variants get Rs 15,000 cash benefits making the effective price of 2026 Kwid Climber Manual Rs 5 lakh (Ex-sh). The revised trim hierarchy has brought simplicity to the equation and adding to it, we only have one engine option – 1.0L Energy 3-cylinder NA Petrol unit.
What’s new?
In terms of changes, there are not a lot and Renault is sticking to whatever was on offer before. So, the updated 2026 Kwid looks more or less identical to its predecessor at first glance. However, there are a few changes if you look closely. From the outside, we can see the new Renault logo on the grille along with new wheel covers for 14-inch steelies.
LED DRLs, halogen headlights, reversing camera, 8-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless go, 184 mm ground clearance, 279L boot, 17 standard safety features, rotary gear selector in automatics, power windows and other aspects are notable. Kiger-like steering wheel is new on the inside.
Statement by Renault India
Commenting on the announcement, Francisco Hidalgo, VP – Sales and Marketing Renault India, said, “For millions of Indians, owning their first car remains an important milestone. With an increasingly aspirational middle class and a large base of two-wheeler owners looking to upgrade, first-time ownership continues to be a strong and enduring aspiration.
Over 4.5 lakh customers in India have started their journey with Kwid, and that trust is something we deeply value. With the New Kwid, we are building on this legacy by making the offering simpler, clearer, and more relevant.”
