New Tata Punch Turbo SUV Teased

Tata Motors has dropped yet another teaser of the upcoming Punch facelift, and this one reveals a host of important mechanical and feature upgrades, clearly positioning the compact SUV as a much more premium and capable offering than before. Most notably, Tata has officially confirmed the introduction of the iTurbo petrol engine, marking a big shift for the Punch, which until now has been limited to naturally aspirated petrol and CNG options.

The Punch Turbo Petrol is expected to use the familiar 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine seen on Altroz Racer. In that application, the motor delivers around 120 PS and 170 Nm, and similar output figures are likely for the Punch as well. The teaser also confirms a 6-speed manual transmission. Behind the 6 speed gear lever, you can also see the enhanced under thigh support in driver seat – a feature we have seen in the new Sierra. This will enhance the comfort levels of new Punch.

Beyond the powertrain, the new teaser highlights several major feature additions. These include a fully digital instrument cluster, 65W fast charging support for quicker device top-ups, Hill Descent Control for improved control on steep slopes, and a new touch-based control panel for key vehicle functions. The presence of FATC (Fully Automatic Temperature Control) further adds to the premium feel, bringing climate convenience that was missing on the outgoing model.

These updates build on earlier teasers that showcased a redesigned front and rear inspired by larger Tata SUVs like Harrier and Safari, new alloy wheels, and the visible front camera suggesting a 360-degree camera system. With a stronger engine, more advanced technology, and a richer feature list, the Punch facelift is shaping up to be a significant upgrade rather than a cosmetic refresh.

With Tata Motors already confirming the launch date as 13th January 2026, the Punch facelift — especially in its turbo petrol guise — is expected to set new benchmarks in the compact SUV segment, appealing to buyers who want a mix of performance, safety, and modern features in a small footprint.
