As per sources, Keeway EZI Hypevolt electric scooter will be available in two variants in India

Till now, Keeway has focused exclusively on the ICE segment in India. With the electric two-wheeler segment registering strong growth, Keeway could be looking to claim its share of the pie. Keeway’s first electric two-wheeler for India could be the EZI Hypevolt, which is comparable to a 125cc petrol scooter. EZI is Keeway’s premium EV brand that was launched in 2020.

Keeway EZI Hypevolt – Performance, battery, range

While the core hardware of EZI Hypevolt is largely the same across global markets, there can be variations in areas like battery capacity, motor output and range. In India, the EZI Hypevolt is expected to be offered in two variants – V1 and V2. Interestingly, the V1 utilizes a hub mounted motor whereas the V2 utilizes a mid-mounted motor. It is made in China, and is likely to be imported as CBU.

In the world of electric two-wheelers, we rarely see the same basic model being offered with two different powertrain layouts. Keeway’s strategy could be aimed at targeting a wider segment of potential buyers. Specifications of the V1 indicate that this variant is likely to be targeted at budget-oriented buyers. It is equipped with a single 72 volts, 35 Ah lithium-ion battery pack, which equals 2.52 kWh.

EZI Hypevolt V1 has a rated power of 2,000 watts and climbing ability 23°. It offers a range of 65 km, which may suit the needs of buyers with limited daily travel. Top speed of the V1 is limited to 80 km/h. Buyers who prefer enhanced performance and higher range can go with the V2 variant of EZI Hypevolt. While the battery pack is the same, the V2 has two units, which add to around 5 kWh.

Design and features

Keeway EZI Hypevolt electric scooter has a sharp, contemporary design, which should appeal to young buyers. Key features include dual LED headlamps, sharp body panelling, split seats and 14-inch alloy wheels. The scooter is offered in exciting colour options. However, these may vary based on the specific market.

EZI Hypevolt has all-LED lighting, keyless start and lock and disc brakes at both ends. With the battery, the scooter’s weight is 124 kg for V1 and 150 kg for the V2 variant. The scooter has a wheelbase of 1,454 mm. Seat height of 770 mm seems appropriate for agile handling and optimal control.

Tech package includes a 5-inch TFT LCD display. Across global markets, the EZI Hypevolt has a range of premium features such as traction control system, hill descent control, hill hold control, reverse camera, intelligent cruise control and a USB port. It also gets ADAS, dual ABS, parallel battery packs, app control, navigation, underseat storage space for full-face helmet, etc.

Whether the India-spec model gets all these features remains to be seen. Keeway EZI Hypevolt would probably rival the upcoming Ultraviolette Tesseract, launch of which has now been delayed to 2027. Launch of the Keeway electric scooter in India is likely to take place next month.
