Yamaha NMAX 155 Tech MAX Patented In India

Yamaha Motor India is on the verge of launching new and exciting high-performance big displacement scooters in the country. Fitting the description, we have Yamaha NMAX 155 being showcased in the country before. For the first time, Yamaha has now patented the NMAX 155 Tech MAX version in the country too.

It has more tech, more aggression and more design than the standard NMAX 155 showcased in India and is known as NMAX 155 Turbo in certain markets. It has to be noted that NMAX 125 Tech MAX also shares the same design, but has a different engine casing, while the design patented in India matches NMAX 155 Tech MAX.

Aerox 155 could be called a sporty / maxi scooter design, whereas NMAX 155 Tech MAX is a proper maxi scooter. It features the aerodynamic body design that Aerox 155 lacks. Yamaha sells multiple scooters based on this desirable 155cc platform globally, but India sadly does not get the better ones.

Which could change with the launch of NMAX 155 Tech MAX as it offers so much more than Aerox 155 sold in India. NMAX 155 Tech MAX brings a more desirable and sophisticated design along with a projector LED headlight setup and better wind protection. NMAX rides on 13-inch alloy wheels, while Aerox gets 14-inchers.

In terms of instrumentation, NMAX 155 Tech MAX gets an LCD instrument cluster for speedo along with a 4.2-inch TFT instrument cluster for more sophisticated connected features including Maps and others. Switchgear also has a Downshift switch, which brings more torque into the equation from the dual-stage CVT gearbox.

What to expect?

NMAX 155 Tech MAX is a non-step-through scooter just like Aerox 155, which means there is a central spine. In NMAX, this spine houses a larger 7.1L fuel tank. Kerb weight is slightly heavier with NMAX at 135 kg, but NMAX strikes back with a lower seat height at 770 mm. Fuel consumption is rated at 2.4L / 100 km, which yields a mileage of 41.66 km/l.

In terms of cycle parts, it has to be noted that NMAX offers gas-charged rear twin shock setups, which should offer far superior comfort than Aerox 155. Also, NMAX brings front and rear disc brakes, while Aerox gets disc at the front only. Front storage, large under-seat storage, USB ports and keyless go with smart key are common between both.

The same 155cc SOHC 4V/cyl liquid cooled single cylinder engine does duty on both scooters. In NMAX 155 Tech MAX, this engine is rated at 15.1 PS of peak power and 14 Nm of peak torque, which is around the same as Aerox.
