2027 Kawasaki KLX230 Launch Price Rs 1.89 Lakh – Costlier, But Rider Friendly
by Akshay Kulkarni · RushLaneKawasaki has just updated their entry-level off-road lineup with revised pricing and seating ergonomics making it friendlier for shorter riders. We’re talking about the updated 2027 Kawasaki KLX230 lineup which has just been expanded to include the new KLX230R S, which now acts as the most affordable KLX model, but is not road legal.
With this update, the company has hiked the prices as well, making them more expensive than they used to be. The 2027 range now consists of the off-road only (not road legal) KLX230R S, followed by standard KLX230 and KLX230 S.
2027 Kawasaki KLX230 Launch
In terms of pricing, off-road only KLX230R S has been priced at Rs 1.89 lakh (Ex-sh), which is now hiked by up to Rs 10,000 when compared to the preceding model. KLX230 and the just launched KLX230 S cost the same, which is Rs 2.19 lakh (Ex-sh). It has to be noted that KLX230 used to be priced at Rs 1.84 lakh, making it around Rs 35,000 more expensive.
What separates the S version of KLX230 from standard version is the revised ergonomics. Primary change is with the seat height, which has been reduced to 830 mm, down from 880 mm. This is a reduction of 50 mm, which short riders and short off-road enthusiasts will definitely appreciate.
This lower seat height of KLX230 S has directly resulted in lesser suspension travel, which now stands at 160 mm at the front and 163 mm at the rear. In contrast, standard KLX230 suspension travel is 220 mm at the front and 223 mm at the rear. Another by-product of this revised seat height is lower ground clearance of 220 mm, down from 255 mm of standard KLX230.
The more hardcore off-road motorcycle of this trio, the 2027 KLX230R S, gets an even higher ground clearance and seat height when compared to standard KLX230. It has a colossal 900 mm seat height along with 270 mm ground clearance. It does not bother with road legal components and ditches headlights, ORVMs, turn indicators and other elements.
Same 233cc Air-Cooled Engine Continues
Irrespective of which Kawasaki KLX230 version you choose, they are powered by the same 233cc single cylinder air cooled engine 19 bhp of peak power and 19 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Deliveries of KLX230R S will commence around August 2026 and the other two variants (KLX230, KLX230 S) around September.
