Mahindra & Mahindra has officially revealed the XEV 9e, with pricing disclosed at the ‘Unlimit India’ event held in Chennai. It carries a starting price of Rs. 21.90 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory) without the charger and installation costs. The occasion also spotlighted the BE 6e, underlining the company’s dedication to advancing its electric vehicle portfolio. These new introductions symbolize a transformative chapter in Mahindra’s pursuit of sustainable mobility.
Built on the cutting-edge INGLO platform, the XEV 9e serves as a foundation for Mahindra’s upcoming EV lineup. It reimagines the XUV700 with an electrified twist, adopting a dynamic coupe-style silhouette. Key exterior features include redesigned headlamps, distinct LED light bars at the front and rear, upgraded bumpers, and a streamlined blanked-off grille. The sloping roofline, paired with eye-catching dual-tone alloy wheels, enhances its sporty and futuristic appeal.
The cabin of the XEV 9e is crafted for both comfort and innovation. Among its standout offerings are a panoramic sunroof, revamped seating with premium upholstery, and a sleek two-spoke steering wheel equipped with controls. A striking three-screen digital interface spans the dashboard, complemented by a refreshed gear lever and a rotary drive mode selector. Other highlights include dual-zone climate control, auto-dimming IRVM, and various modern amenities to elevate the driving experience.
Powering the XEV 9e are two battery options – a 59kWh pack and a larger 79kWh version. These configurations cater to diverse needs, with single and dual motor setups delivering power outputs ranging from 228 bhp to 281 bhp. The SUV supports rapid charging, enabling a 20-80 per cent battery recharge in just 20 minutes using a 175 kW DC fast charger. This capability ensures practicality and efficiency for today’s EV adopters.
With its advanced features, brand new design language and versatile powertrain options, the Mahindra XEV 9e is expected to set a new benchmark in the premium electric SUV segment. The model has an overall ground clearance of 207 mm, battery ground clearance of 222 mm and a length of 4,765 mm. The class-leading bootspace capacity stands at 663 litres along with a frunk of 150-litre capacity.
With a best-in-class LFP energy density of 141.5 Wh/kg, a high efficiency of 400 to 465 V has been achieved. The smaller battery pack enables an ARAI-certified range of 656 km on a single charge and Mahindra is ensuring 500 plus km per charge with AC on while driving in metros.
