The National Lottery app has stopped working this morning leaving players fuming.

Just hours before jackpot numbers are due to be announced, status monitoring site Down Detector is reporting that several hundred people have reported not being able to access the popular app.

Those attempting to log in to or access the site's main page are being met with an apologetic message stating that the National Lottery online services are "temporarily unavailable" and asking people to "please bear with us".

The message reads: "Our online services are temporarily unavailable. Sorry about that – we'll get you back in the game as soon as possible." Those attempting to open the app get a message telling them to retool their internet settings and redirecting them to the National Lottery website, reports the Mirror.

The message reads: "Sorry, our app is unable to load for you. It could be a parental block is set with your Internet Service Provider. This would prevent you from accessing gambling websites and apps. Please update your settings and then reload the app. If this fails, please visit our website to play."

Maps posted by Down Detector show that the largest number of reports are coming from London this morning, with Manchester close behind. Smaller pockets of reports are popping up across the entire country, showing the significant extent of the site problems.

The outages come following a bumper Wednesday for the lottery, when it released the numbers for a bumper £7.3 million jackpot, and ahead of another draw tonight.

The September 18 draw saw Britons scoop a collection of smaller prizes, with no one netting the top jackpot after the organisation released the winning numbers.
