Abee Ai Station is a liquid-cooled mini PC with AMD Strix Halo and 10 Gigabit networking
by Brad Linder · LiliputingAMD’s Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 Strix Halo processor is a powerhouse of a chip that’s theoretically designed for laptops and other mobile devices. But it’s also an expensive chip that hasn’t actually shown up in many mobile devices yet.
What we have seen are announcements for a whole bunch of small form-factor desktop computers featuring the Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 processor. That sort of makes sense, because while the chip can be used in gaming laptops, it has some features that really make it more of an AI workstation-class chip than anything else. And a few upcoming models look like they could push performance to the limit thanks to integrated liquid cooling systems.
Thermalright showcased a few liquid-cooled mini PCs with AMD Strix Halo chips at Computex in May. And now PC case and cooling solution company Abee has unveiled its entry into this space: the Abee Ai Station.
It’s a compact, cube-shaped computer that combines a Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 chip with 128GB of LPDDR5x-8000 memory (up to 96GB of which can be used by the integrated Radeon 8060S GPU), a 400W power supply, and some decent I/O including 2.5 GbE and 10 GbE LAN connections.
The start of the show is the processor, which features a 16-core, 32-thread CPU based on Zen 5 architecture, 40-core RDNA 3.5 graphics, and an NPU that delivers up to 50 TOPS of on-device AI processing power.
While liquid cooling won’t change any of those specs, it could bring better performance during sustained workloads than you’d get from fans alone.
There’s no word on pricing or availability, but if other PCs with this chip are anything to go by, it’s unlikely that the Abee Ai Station will be cheap. Models without special features like liquid cooling regularly have prices starting at around $1500.
