Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514 now available with MediaTek Kompanio Ultra 910 for $700 and up
by Brad Linder · LiliputingThe Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514 (CP514-5HN) is one of the most powerful Chromebooks with an Arm-based processor to date, thanks to its MediaTek Kompanio Ultra 910 processor. With a 14 inch IPS LCD touchscreen display and a 360-degree hinge, and up to 16GB of memory and 256GB of storage, it’s also a pretty versatile ChromeOS laptop… although it’s also a relatively expensive model.
First announced in September, the new Chromebook Plus Spin 514 is now available for purchase for $700 and up.
That’s the price Best Buy is charging for an entry-level model with 12GB of LPDDR5X memory, 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage, and a 1920 x 1200 pixel, 120 Hz display.
The Acer Store also has a higher-spec model with 16GB of RAM and a 2880 x 1800 pixel, 60 Hz display for $800.
At the heart of both models is a Kompanio Ultra 910 chip featuring:
- 1 x Arm Cortex-X925 CPU core @ 3.62 GHz
- 3 x Arm Cortex-X4 CPU cores
- 4 x Arm Cortex-A720 CPU cores
- Immortalix-G925 MC11 graphics
- MediaTek NPU 890 (up to 50 TOPS of AI performance)
The laptop has two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, a headset jack, a webcam with a privacy shutter, support for a USI 2.0 pressure-sensitive stylus (sold separately), and optional support for a fingerprint sensor and backlit keyboard. The laptop supports Bluetooth and WiFi 7.
The Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514 (CP514-5HN) measures 313 x 232 x 15.5mm (12.3″ x 9.1″ x 0.6″) ad weighs 1.36 kg (3 pounds).
