Samsung launches Galaxy Z Flip7 with a bigger cover screen along with cheaper Galaxy Z Flip7 FE

Samsung is expanding its Galaxy Z Flip line of phones with foldable screens with two new models launching this month.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 is a new premium model with a larger cover display and faster processor than the previous-gen Flip6. And the company is also introducing its first FE (Fan Edition) model with a lower price tag. But the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE doesn’t seem like an entirely new device: it’s basically a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 with less RAM, a Samsung processor rather than a Qualcomm chip, and a lower starting price.

That doesn’t necessarily make the Galaxy Flip7 FE a cheap phone – priced at $900 and up, it’s not exactly in mid-range territory. But it is more affordable than the Galaxy Flip7, which starts at $1100.

So what differences are there between the new models?

While both have the same interior display, the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE has the same 3.4 inch cover display as last year’s model, while the new Flip7 has a bigger, higher-resolution 4.1 inch display with support for screen refresh rates up to 120 Hz.

The higher-priced model also has a faster processor (Samsung Exynos 2500 vs 2400), and support for WiFi 7 (the cheaper model tops out at WiFi 6E). It’s slightly thinner, despite having a larger battery. And it has 12GB of RAM rather than 8GB.

Both phones have fingerprint sensors on the side and both ship with Android 16 and Samsung’s One UI software.

The phones are available for pre-order now and should be available starting July 5.
