Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 laptop now available with AMD Krackan Point or Intel Lunar Lake
by Brad Linder · LiliputingThe Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 is a convertible notebook with a 14 inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel touchscreen display, a 360 degree hinge and a body that weighs about 3.5 pounds and measures 16mm (0.65 inches) at its thickest point.
Last month Dell launched a version of this notebook with support for up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 288V Lunar Lake processor. Now the company is expanding the family to include cheaper AMD-powered models with support for up to a Ryzen AI 7 350 “Krackan Point” chip.
While prices start at $1050 for the Intel version of the Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1, the new AMD version starts at $850 for a model with a Ryzen AI 5 340 chip, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD.
The AMD version of the laptop looks nearly identical to the Intel model and features the same 64 Wh battery and 65W USB-C power adapter. Both models have a 1080p webcam with a privacy shutter, a backlit keyboard, and user-upgradeable PCIe NVMe solid state storage.
But there are a few key differences to keep in mind that help account for the price difference.
For example, the Intel model has a Thunderbolt 4 port with support for 40 Gbps data transfer speed and LPDDR5x-8533 memory, while the AMD version has (slightly) slower LPDDR5x-7500 memory and lacks a Thunderbolt port (but it does have two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports with support for speeds up to 10 Gbps. Both laptops also have USB Type-A and HDMI ports.
Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 models with Intel Lunar Lake processors also come with an Intel BE201 wireless card while the AMD version has a MediaTek MT7925 card. Both support WiFi 7.
