Samsung Galaxy Tab A11 budget tablets with 8.7 inch and 11 inch screens coming soon

Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab S11 series tablets are premium devices with big, high-quality displays, speedy processor, S-Pen support, and price tags that start at more than $800. Folks looking for a cheaper option can opt for the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite, which starts at $350.

But it looks like Samsung is also preparing to update its Galaxy Tab A line of budget models with a smaller, cheaper options, as well as a new budget model with a larger screen. Meet the Samsung Galaxy Tab A11 lineup.

Samsung hasn’t issued a press release for the new tablets yet, but two Galaxy Tab A11 models are listed on the company’s website for the United Arab Emirates: a WiFi-only model and one with support for 4G LTE.

Both tablets feature 8.7 inch, 1340 x 800 pixel displays with a 90 Hz refresh rate, unspecified octa-core processors (which WinFuture says is a MediaTek Helio G99), and a set of ports and connectivity options that includes a USB 2.0 Type-C port for charging and data, a 3.5mm audio jack, a microSD card reader with support for cards up to 2TB as well as WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.3 support.

Samsung lists two memory and storage configuration options: entry-level models come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, but there are also a higher-priced 8GB/128GB versions of the tablets.

The tablets have 5,100 mAh batteries, ambient light sensors, and accelerometers. There are 8MP rear and 5MP front-facing cameras. And the Galaxy Tab A11 tablets measure 211 x 124.7 x 8m (8.3″ x 4.9″ x 0.3″) and has a starting weight of 335 grams (11.8 ounces).

While the tablets don’t support Samsung’s pressure-sensitive S-Pen for writing or drawing, their small size and lower price tags could make them decent alternatives to something like an Amazon Fire HD 8 for folks looking for budget devices.

For the most part though, the Galaxy Tab A11 seems like a pretty modest update from the Galaxy Tab A9 (which was released in 2023) and Galaxy Tab A7 Lite (2021). The new model is pretty much the same size and weight as the previous generation, while apparently retaining the same processor and screen resolution.

There are at least two obvious upgrades in the spec sheet though. The screen refresh rate has been bumped up from 60 Hz to 90 Hz, and the front camera now has a 5MP sensor instead of 2MP.

It’s likely that Samsung has also updated the processor and that the tablets will ship with newer versions of Android and receive software updates for a longer period of time. Those details aren’t spelled out on the product pages, but according to benchmark listings, it seems like the new tablets could ship with Android 16.

One other thing to keep in mind is that Samsung introduced two Galaxy Tab A-series tablets in 2023: the Galaxy Tab A9 with an 8.7 inch HD+ display and the Galaxy Tab A9+ with an 11 inch FHD+ screen. But the company never released the smaller model in the US, where only the larger (and more expensive model) has been available for the past two years.

And it looks like Samsung is planning to launch a larger Galaxy Tab A11+ with an 11 inch display and a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor this year. But it’s unclear which of the new tablets will be available in the US, if any.
