New WhatsApp feature could save you from unwanted video calls

WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will soon save you from unwanted video calls. By now, f you answer such a call, the camera turns on automatically. This often violates privacy, because the camera can be turned off only after accepting the call. To prevent unwanted consequences in the future, the new feature will allow you to turn off the camera before answering.

Likewise, for those who have ever felt panic after mechanically answering a video call, only to quickly realize that they were not quite ready for the camera, this update could be a lifesaver for future (mis)occasions.

The version of the application that supports this feature is still in the beta testing phase, and will probably be available to all users in the coming weeks.
