Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Design
Samsung Slims Down The Build
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge was built to be the thinnest, lightest Samsung phone yet. The phone is 5.8mm thick and it weighs 163 grams, or just over 0.3 pounds. For context, the Galaxy S25 series lineup has three devices, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus, and the Samsung Galaxy S25. The base S25 and the Plus are both made of an armor aluminum, while the S25 Ultra is made of titanium. The new S25 Edge mimics the Ultra with a titanium shell. It’s basically a blend of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and its more balanced siblings, which makes sense: For a thinner, slimmer device, the extra sturdy chassis can make all the difference in the event of an accidental drop.
The display is made of Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, but without an anti-reflective coating. An anti-reflective coating is one feature I would have liked to see, based on when I viewed the phone screen under a bright light.
The display is about the same size as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus at 6.7 inches, and you get a QHD+, Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. It also offers two important display features—Vision booster and Adaptive color tone—which can make your streaming and gaming content brighter and more lifelike.
Qualcomm And Samsung Partnership
Inside, the S25 Edge sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, which is a continued partnership between Qualcomm and Samsung, and a very similar chip to what’s in the rest of the S25 series. While I wasn’t able to benchmark the device, that chipset is promising. When I reviewed the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra earlier this year, the chipset had the strongest performance numbers of all flagship devices I cross-tested. The S25 Edge comes with 12GB RAM, too.
Because it’s a Samsung Galaxy device, you get access to all major Samsung AI frameworks. Now Brief and Now Bar, introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, also come in this new device, which can allow you to see at-a-glance news and information without unlocking your phone. Additionally, you get access to Google Gemini, so you can use it to ask questions, plan events and more. Plus, Gemini Live also offers the ability to share what’s on your screen while you’re on the phone in a live conversation.
One thing to note about the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Its battery is 3,900mAh. That’s slightly less than the Samsung Galaxy S25 and about 1,000mAh less than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus. While I’ll need to test it more, I’m skeptically optimistic that the improved processors and AI frameworks in the Samsung software will elongate its lifespan, but it should still be better than the S24 series.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Cameras
Two Cameras Instead Of Three
The camera design is where the Samsung diverges from its siblings. The Galaxy S25 series lineup has had three devices—the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S25—and they all sport three cameras on the back. In contrast, the new Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge reduces the set to two rear cameras. You get a 200MP and a 12MP ultrawide lens, the latter of which includes autofocus to help snap macro photography shots.
I was able to snap a few shots on the camera and was impressed. Colors look gorgeous, and I liked how it capture details on textured vases and wooden floors. That’s in part thanks to the ProVisual Engine the device also offers.
The device comes with a 12MP front camera, too. And because it’s part of the Samsung family, you can expect to access Samsung’s Galaxy AI features built for the camera. It includes Audio Eraser and Drawing Assist to help tweak TikTok videos and add silly components to your pictures.
