Google Home notifications are MIA for some Pixel 10 owners

by · Android Police

Pixel 10 owners are running into a frustrating problem with Google Home: notifications just aren’t showing up. Whether it’s motion alerts from a Nest camera or doorbell notifications, Android Authority drew attention to some users saying their shiny new devices are staying silent — even as their Pixel Watches or other devices light up.

Another instance of early adoption woes

At least we know the dev team is already on the case

Reports started surfacing on Reddit shortly after the Pixel 10 series launch, with user archercc81 noting they weren’t getting any Home notifications on their Pixel 10 Pro XL. Several others, including user GreyFoxSolid, chimed in with similar experiences, some pointing out that the problem started right after updating to Android 16.

For a few, the standard fixes seemed to help — at least temporarily. Force-stopping the Home app, clearing cache and data, uninstalling and reinstalling, and even toggling presence sensing to the new device sometimes gets notifications working again. But many report that the issue returns after a reboot, making the workaround a rinse-and-repeat cycle.

Other users suggest adjusting battery optimization settings for the Home app to "Unrestricted," which can prevent Android from killing background processes. That’s worked for some, but not consistently. A couple of users even said the issue briefly went away after installing the August 2025 Google Play system update, only to return after a second update and reboot.

Google has acknowledged the issue in a Reddit comment, confirming that its teams are "aware and working on it." In the meantime, its official guidance points to the same troubleshooting steps users have already been cycling through.

This is a particularly bad time for a bug like this. Google is preparing to roll out Gemini-powered features to Google Home in October, along with new Nest cameras and doorbells — devices that rely heavily on timely notifications to be useful.

For now, Pixel 10 owners dealing with missing Home alerts may want to try the suggested fixes, but there’s no guarantee they’ll stick. With Google already working toward a solution, a more permanent fix will likely come in a future software update.
