Pebble cuts corners in the best possible way with the Round 2 smartwatch

by · Android Police

If you thought Pebble had forgotten all about the Pebble Time Round in its excitement over the Pebble Core 2 Duo and the Pebble Time 2, don’t worry, because the newly reinvigorated brand had merely been keeping its plans quiet until CES 2026.

The Pebble Round 2 brings everything many liked about the original round Pebble to the modern age, and it’s going to be released in the very near future.

Round face

The Core 2 Duo and Time 2 both have rectangular screens and cases, echoing the original Pebble models, but also the modern Apple Watch. The Pebble Round 2 abandons this, and brings back the circular case and screen from the original Time Round.

On the front is a 1.3-inch color e-paper screen with a 260 x 260 pixel resolution, encased in a stainless steel frame and crucially, without the massive bezel which divided fans of the 2015 version.

While a bezel is still there, it’s far less visually intrusive, and the photos show how good the large screen looks on the 8.1mm thick smartwatch. It comes in three color options: matte black, brushed silver, or polished rose gold.

The case comes in a single size, but there’s a choice of two lug widths, either 14mm or 20mm, if you choose the silver version, to help make it more suitable for different wrist sizes. The black Round 2 only comes in 20mm, and the rose gold is only in 14mm.

What about the tech?

Pebble makes it clear this is not a smartwatch for fitness fans. It does not have a heart rate sensor, and will only track steps and sleep. This, along with the e-paper screen, has a positive effect on the battery life, which is expected to be up to two weeks on a single charge.

The only sensors you’ll find are an accelerometer and a magnetometer, there are a pair of microphones for speech input to dictate messages and use an AI assistant, and the operating system is PebbleOS.

You can access the Pebble Appstore from the smartwatch, and choose from thousands of watch faces available through it. The Pebble app, used to connect the smartwatch to your phone, is available for Android and iOS.

How much will it cost?

The Pebble Round 2 costs $199 and will begin shipping in May, but it can be pre-ordered from Pebble’s online store now. Helpfully, Pebble will give the option for people to change their pre-order of the Pebble Time 2 to the Round 2, if the round case is preferable.

The Pebble team says the Round 2 has been in development since March 2025, and is nearing the end of testing. Because the internals are based on the Time 2, the mechanical design comes from the Time Round, and the software is the already developed, open source PebbleOS, it has been easier to build.

Pebble has announced the Pebble Round 2 to coincide with CES 2026, which it will attend for the first time, and also soon after the Index 01, its first smart ring.
