Gemini 4 Argon is here, and Google says it'll finally cut down on the AI fluff

by · Android Police

Google has started rolling out Gemini 4 Argon, its latest AI model, in the Gemini app for paid subscribers.

Towards the end of last month, Google announced its next-generation frontier AI model, called Gemini 4 Argon, which succeeds the Gemini 3.5 Pro and Gemini 3.8 Flash models.

And now, the company has started making the new model available to paid subscribers in the Gemini app. The company shared on X that Gemini 4 Argon is rolling out to both Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers starting today.

This means if you're subscribed to either of Google's paid AI plans, you should soon be able to access Gemini 4 Argon directly through the Gemini app. It's worth noting that the new model isn't available to Google AI Plus subscribers or free users just yet, although wider availability could follow later.

Most of the improvements in Gemini 4 Argon focus on spatial reasoning, mathematical precision, and visual coding. But even if you're not someone who uses AI for coding, Google says there are plenty of improvements to look forward to, including better reasoning and performance across complex workflows.

Google wants Gemini to be less wordy

Google says Gemini 4 Argon is designed to answer questions more directly, with less hedging and unnecessary repetition. The company also claims the model follows style instructions more reliably than previous Gemini models, which should make it easier to get responses in exactly the tone or format you want.

For longer and more complex tasks, Google says the new model will also do a better job of keeping users informed, sharing progress updates more frequently and effectively instead of leaving them wondering what's happening.

But probably the biggest improvement for everyday Gemini users is that Google is trying to make the chatbot less wordy. According to the company, Gemini 4 Argon should get straight to the point, avoid repeating itself, and cut down on the typical AI clichés that often make chatbot responses feel unnecessarily long.

Google is also touting a massive 1-million-token output capacity, which should allow the model to generate much longer and more detailed responses when needed.

If you're a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscriber, you should start seeing Gemini 4 Argon as an available model in the Gemini app. You won't need to download a separate app, although it's worth making sure you're running the latest version of Gemini.

That said, the rollout doesn't appear to be reaching everyone at once. I'm subscribed to Google AI Pro myself, and I'm still not seeing Gemini 4 Argon available in the app just yet. So if you don't have access either, you may need to wait a little longer for Google to enable it on your account.
