Samsung S25 Ultra Camera and Sensor: What’s Changed?
by IR Staff · Imaging ResourceWith the release of the Samsung S25 Ultra (now available to pre order), the company continues to push the boundaries of mobile photography. While the camera system retains much of what made the S24 Ultra a powerhouse, there are key upgrades that enhance its overall performance, offering users a more refined and powerful shooting experience. That being said, it doesn't look like you need to get rid of your S24 Ultra any time soon.
Samsung S25 Ultra Camera
At its core, the S25 Ultra maintains the 200MP main camera, a staple in the S series lineup, but with improved sensor processing that enhances image quality. This means users can expect even more detail, sharper images, and better overall performance, especially in challenging lighting conditions. The 50MP ultra-wide lens also sees improvements, with a new sensor optimization that corrects distortion and provides better color accuracy and clarity, ensuring wide-angle shots remain crisp and lifelike.
Perhaps the most notable upgrade comes with the 50MP telephoto lens. While it remains the same in resolution, Samsung has made refinements to its autofocus and stabilization systems, leading to better performance, particularly at higher zoom levels. The ability to capture clear, detailed shots even at longer distances is now more reliable, making it a standout feature for users who enjoy detailed telephoto photography.
The 10MP periscope lens also remains, providing 10x optical zoom, but with improved sensor performance that reduces noise and sharpens images, even when zooming in on distant subjects. This, combined with the Adaptive Pixel sensor, which captures more light, allows for a more flexible shooting experience in various conditions, including low light.
On the video front, the S25 Ultra continues to support 8K recording at 30fps, but with more refined stabilization and enhanced sensor processing, users can now enjoy smoother, more detailed video footage. Whether shooting in 8K or in slower motion, the S25 Ultra ensures that every frame is as sharp and vibrant as possible. The camera can also shoot slow-motion video at 240fps in Full HD and 120fps in UHD, offering creative flexibility to videographers.
The 12MP front camera remains unchanged, but the sensor improvements across the entire system, particularly in light sensitivity, provide users with better selfies, even in challenging lighting conditions.
