006003 size ceramic capacitors – that’s 160 x 80μm

by · Electronics Weekly.com

Murata has started making 160 x 80 x 80μm (0.16 x 0.08 x 0.08mm) MLCCs – 006003 in inch nomenclature – claiming that they are “the world’s smallest multilayer ceramic capacitor”.

“The latest smartphones utilise up to 1,000 units,” according to the company. 006003 “represents a volume ratio approximately 75% lower than the existing smallest product, the 008004 inch-size” which measures 0.25 x 0.125mm and was introduced in 2014.

What values are going to be offered?

A 25V 22pF “temperature compensating type”, Murata told Electronics Weekly, and a 16V 10nF “high dielectric constant type”.

Find out more on Murata’s stand (6H104) at Ceatec Japan 2024, on 15 October at Makuhari Messe in Chiba prefecture.
