Ryanair issues urgent check-in alert for all passengers flying later this month

by · Manchester Evening News

Ryanair has issued an urgent message to all passengers flying later this month. The airline is warning passengers to make sure that they check-in on time while the company’s website and app undergoes ‘essential maintenance’.

The website will be down from 7pm on Wednesday, October 16 until 3am on Thursday, October 17. Although it is a short window of time, it could affect anyone who leaves check-in to the last minute.

Passengers are urged to check-in earlier if they are due to fly during this period. In a statement on its website, Ryanair said: “Our website / mobile app is undergoing essential scheduled maintenance from 19.00hrs Wednesday, 16 October – 03.00hrs (GMT) Thursday, 17 October.

“Passengers who are due to fly during this period should check-in online before 19.00hrs (GMT) on Wednesday, 16 October. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused as a result of this brief downtime.”

According to its website, online check-in for Ryanair passengers opens up to 60 days before scheduled departure for those with a pre-reserved seat. It does add that your outbound and return flights must be within those 60 days of departure.

If you do not have a reserved seat and instead will have a randomly allocated seat, check-in opens 24 hours before your flight and closes two hours before. It is possible to check in at the airport, although you need to pay a check-in fee of £55 (or £30 for flights from Spain).

Those who do not check in online up to two hours before their scheduled departure time can check-in at the airport up to 40 minutes before departure, but will be charged a check-in fee. On its website Ryanair states: “We urge all passengers to check in online before arriving at the airport so these fees can be avoided.”
