Samsung give you a heavily reduced Galaxy 24 and a free laptop for your old phone

If you're coming to the end of your current mobile phone contract and are fancying an upgrade to something new, Samsung might have a deal that's worth looking into. For those that already have a phone in their pocket, you can trade it in against a Samsung S24 and pick a brand new one up with a potential saving of £420.

The amount you'll save will completely depend on the phone that you're trading in. However, if you've got a fairly new phone that was made in the last couple of years, you're eligible to get a decent whack off a brand new Samsung.

For reference, the S24 model was Samsung's latest phone that released last year. It's packed with intelligent AI features, some impressive cameras, and a powerful processor to boot.

Here are some of the discounts you can expect to see depending on the phone you currently have:

It looks like £420 is the maximum amount of discount you'll get in this promotion, with the rewards tailing off for older devices. If you want to take advantage of the deal, just look for the 'Trade-in' option when purchasing, and you might be able to get your price as low as £304.

If that wasn’t good enough, things get even better. To kick off the New Year, Samsung is also offering a free 14-inch Galaxy Chromebook Go when you buy the S24. That means you’ll get a Google-powered PC on your lap without paying a penny extra.

Although this is a very good deal from Samsung, it does come with a caveat. Samsung is expected to announce its latest S25 devices at a presentation on January 22, 2025, meaning your brand new device would already be outdated by a newer model.

While the rumours are as-yet unconfirmed, the Samsung S25 models are expected to have smarter AI features, a more powerful processor, and a brighter screen. However, that doesn't take away from the prowess of the S24, which are still very capable phones a year on from release.

Still, if you like to know that you're on the bleeding edge of technology, it might be worth holding back a little while until the S25 models are announced so you can make a more informed decision. After all, the S25's will only be available at a full pre-order price, which makes the £304 for last years model look like an absolute steal.

Not sold on a Samsung? Carphone Warehouse currently has several deals running on other mobile devices, including the Google Pixel 8a from £14.99 per month and a £50 discount on the upfront cost.

For the Apple users out there, O2 currently has offers on iPhone 16 devices starting at £44 per month. There's a £30 upfront cost to consider, though.
