Britons have been left fuming this morning as the National Lottery app has stopped working, just hours before jackpot numbers are announced.

Reports on status monitoring site Down Detector show that several hundred people have reported not being able to access the lottery app.

Anyone attempting to access the site's main page is greeted by an apologetic message stating that the National Lottery online services are "temporarily unavailable" and asking people to "please bear with us".

The message reads: "Our online services are temporarily unavailable. Sorry about that – we'll get you back in the game as soon as possible."
