TwitchCon 2025 keynote announcements include dual-format streams & Meta AI glasses integration
A beta for dual-format streaming will kick off in the next week.
by Ozzie Mejia · ShacknewsThis is a big year for Twitch's annual convention. TwitchCon is turning 10, so the team at the streaming giant wants to kick off this year's event in a big way. Friday began with the TwitchCon keynote from various company luminaries, including CEO Dan Clancy. Clancy announced some new features expected to come to Twitch, including dual-format streaming and an option to stream directly from Meta's line of AI glasses.
Dual-format streaming will allow streamers to go live directly to their viewers via both horizontal and vertical formats simultaneously. This will make it easier for anybody to catch a stream whether they're at home or on-the-go with the Twitch mobile app. Twitch is looking to roll this feature out soon with beta testing set to begin next week.
Twitch is also diving into the world of AI, which includes expanding ways in which users can stream directly to their viewers. Meta's line of AI glasses will soon support Twitch and allow streamers to go live at any time, provided they have a strong internet connection. The Twitch mobile app is expected to integrate Meta AI glasses support in the months ahead.
Other noteworthy announcements to come out of this year's TwitchCon event include an easier process for streamers to gain sponsorships, the ability for medium-sized streamers to run their own promotions, and adjustments to the community guidelines. These adjustments mean that menial offenses will not block a user's access to Twitch entirely. On top of that, streamers can now assign Lead Moderator roles, as well as Agent roles. Lead Mods can add or remove mods at any time while an Agent will be privy to a streamer's analytics and financial info.
