Flood evacuees in Sarawak rise to 1,172 as two new PPS activated in Serian
by Galileo Petingi · Borneo Post OnlineKUCHING (Jan 9): The number of flood victims evacuated to 15 temporary evacuation centres (PPS) across Sarawak has risen to 1,172 people from 349 households, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said.
In its latest update, SDMC reported that two new PPS have been activated in Serian district. Kampung Rimba Padi New Hall is currently housing 60 victims from 18 households, while Dewan Sri Tok Nan is sheltering evacuees from Kampung Seniawan Jepon.
Evacuees from Taman Duranda Emas in Siburan also increased slightly, reaching 189 victims from 47 households.
Meanwhile, the PPS at SMK Bekenu multipurpose hall in Subis was officially closed this afternoon.
