Apple Creator Studio gets AI assistants in the biggest update since launch

Apple launched Creator Studio back in January as a subscription bundle of its apps intended for creative professionals. Today the company announced a big round of updates for it, which it calls the most exciting since its launch.

Final Cut Pro for Mac now has MotionVFX integrated, which gives editors thousands of templates, graphics, titles, and transitions, plus tools for rotoscoping, tracking, and color grading. The Content Hub is now in Final Cut Pro too, with Apple-curated stock videos, photos, and backgrounds. You can also open any image from your timeline in Pixelmator Pro and have the changes saved back to the project automatically, or generate images from text descriptions right inside it. Other additions include more keyframe easing options, the ability to disconnect clips from the primary storyline and place them anywhere on the timeline, and 23 new transcription languages.

Motion gets MotionVFX plug-ins as well, for cinematic color grading, 3D camera tracking, and one-click selection, along with text-to-image generation, round-trip editing in Pixelmator Pro, and a new Displacement filter. Compressor can now encode Cinematic mode video recorded on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo. Meanwhile, Pixelmator Pro introduces Generate Fill - you circle an area of an image (or use the existing selection tools) and describe the change you want. It matches the lighting, perspective, and texture of the surroundings, upscales the result with Super Resolution, and can insert it as a new layer with a mask for further tweaking.

Logic Pro on Mac and iPad gets an all-new Liquid Glass design. On Mac, there's also a new assistant in beta powered by Apple-built and third-party models, which can help you start a new song, set up a vocal track from a single prompt, or refine an active project. The redesigned Browser gathers loops, instruments, and effect patches in one place, and includes a Splice library. An on-device feature called music understanding automatically analyzes and tags your sounds, so you can drag in a loop and find matching audio. Stem Splitter can now isolate, replace, or rebalance drums, there's a new Producer Pack from 20-time Grammy winner Sergio George, and Voice Memo Studio Sound cuts room ambience and background noise from recordings made on supported iPhones.

Keynote, Pages, and Numbers get an AI assistant, built on Apple models and OpenAI's, that understands the context of your document. It helps design, animate, and refine slides in Keynote, drafts and restructures text in Pages, and calculates, visualizes, and organizes data in Numbers, where it also recommends chart types and builds tables using world knowledge. New Model Context Protocol (MCP) support lets external AI agents read content, make edits, and run automated actions in all three apps. They also get stock video in the Content Hub and new templates and themes, while Keynote adds the open, JSON-based Keynote Interchange Format (.keyx). Freeform gets text styles and custom board background colors, and in December it will also get Pixelmator Pro image editing and editable shapes generated from text descriptions.

The updates will hit the App Store in November and are free for existing subscribers. The AI assistants are US English only and need an Apple Intelligence-capable device. The one in Logic Pro requires macOS 27 Golden Gate, the one in Keynote, Pages, and Numbers needs iOS 27, iPadOS 27, or macOS 27, and MCP support is Mac-only, on macOS 27. New subscribers pay $12.99 per month or $129 per year after a one-month free trial, and buying a new Mac or a qualifying iPad gets you three months for free. College students and educators pay $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year, and up to six family members can share a subscription.
