Xiaomi 17 family might be getting another member soon

Xiaomi has already launched the 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and 17 Ultra, but apparently there might be a fifth member of the 17 family coming. According to prolific Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station, the company is working on a new member of this series, which will be "a minor iteration", though it's unclear of what.

It has a large 6.8" to 6.9" flat screen with ultra-narrow bezels and it's powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, just like the rest of the family. The upcoming device also has a periscope telephoto camera, like the Pros and the Ultra.

The new device is currently scheduled to launch sometime in the first half of next year, and we are very confused about this - provided it's accurate information, of course. Why would Xiaomi feel the need to iterate on its flagship line so quickly? Especially since there don't seem to be any standout specs on this new device. Hopefully more rumors will clear up this mystery in the future. Until then, stay tuned.
