‘GTA’-Inspired ‘Grand Heist City’ Game to Launch on Fortnite From Typical Gamer’s JOGO Studios, KitBash3D (EXCLUSIVE)

Andre “Typical Gamer” Rebelo is bringing his love of “Grand Theft Auto” to Fortnite with the launch of his company’s new super-size map “Grand Heist City” later this month.

Described as the Typical Gamer-founded JOGO Studios’ “most ambitious project” to date, “Grand Heist City” will launch March 14 as a full-scale, mission-driven sandbox on Epic Games’ Fortnite that “delivers the chaotic energy of ‘GTA’ through open play, heists and multiplayer mayhem in a living city.”

“GHC” was built in collaboration with KitBash3D and with funding from a Epic Games cash Mega Grant received by JOGO.

The map will launch in Fortnite as anticipation for Rockstar Games’ “GTA 6” continues to build ahead of the title’s scheduled November 2026 release date.

“I’ve been a ‘Grand Theft Auto’ fan all my life,” Rebelo told Variety, noting that he got his start as a gaming streamer making tutorial videos for another Rockstar franchise, “Red Dead Redemption.” “I absolutely love the open-world concept. I love third-person games. That’s why part of my love for Fortnite is from games like ‘Grand Theft Auto’ that really built up my gaming repertoire when I was younger.”

Rebelo continued, “So to create an open-world experience in Fortnite, we knew it’d be extremely challenging, like the memory limitations [have] been something we’ve been combating since Day 1, but we wanted to create a big experience, one experience that maybe people who are looking forward to ‘Grand Theft Auto VI,’ they can play this in the meantime. Or if ‘Grand Theft Auto’ is too expensive, maybe it does hit that $100 price tag, we have created a ‘Fortnite’-inspired ‘Grand Theft Auto’ right in ‘Grand Heist City.'”

Rebelo launched JOGO in May 2024 with the promise to invest more than $2 million into gaming development through Unreal Engine for Fortnite. With the “Grand Heist City” map, JOGO will be offering in-game purchases for the first time. With UEFN payouts now surpassing $700 million, JOGO leadership sees the market as now “mature” enough to warrant the microtransactions experiment within “GHC.”

Microtransactions are not for the meek, according to JOGO COO Chad Mustard said. “With 100% of in-island spending currently being paid out to creators, we’re giving fans a deep enough experience to spend against,” Mustard said. “You don’t see that with simple maps that capture attention but not loyalty. When we bet big, we’re stretching capabilities and expertise. With other UGC platforms like Roblox surpassing $1 billion in payouts, we’re applying these key learnings to universal knowledge, and preparing for UGC expansion.”

“Grand Heist City” marks KitBash3D’s first partnership with a UEFN studio, though they’ve previously developed mega assets in UEFN for Epic across IPs including “The Walking Dead” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”

“’Grand Heist City’ is what happens when a creator-led studio thinks big. Together, we were able to build a city that feels alive, supports gameplay at every skill, and delivers an experience that would have previously required a much larger team,” KitBash3D co-CEO Banks Boutté said. “Players get richer worlds, more ambitious ideas, and experiences that feel polished and fun. That’s a future we’re excited about, and this project is a real proof point of where things are headed.”
