Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold Tipped To Be First Foldable With Full IP68 Rating
by Joe Gallop · channelnewsGoogle’s upcoming Pixel 10 Pro Fold could be the first foldable smartphone to feature full IP68 water and dust resistance, according to newly leaked specs.
If accurate, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will outshine its foldable rivals in durability, setting a new benchmark in a market where water resistance is common, but dust protection is not.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, for instance, is only rated IP48.
The new Pixel foldable will reportedly pack a larger 5,015mAh battery, surpassing the 4,650mAh cell in last year’s Pixel Fold and the 4,400mAh battery found in Samsung’s latest Z Fold.
Charging will also see a bump, with support for 23W wired and 15W Qi2 wireless speeds.
The outer display gets a minor increase from 6.3 to 6.4 inches, while peak brightness is expected to hit 3,000 nits, which matches Google’s own Pixel 9 Pro’s “Super Actua” display. The main 8-inch foldable OLED screen remains unchanged.
Powering the device will be Google’s first 3nm chip, the Tensor G5, paired with 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage, which is a first for a Pixel foldable.
Camera hardware looks unchanged, with a 48MP main sensor, 10.5MP ultrawide, 10.8MP 5x telephoto, and dual 10MP selfie cameras.
While design changes appear modest, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s internal upgrades and IP68 rating may give it a real edge in the increasingly competitive foldables market.
Google is expected to launch the Pixel 10 series, including this foldable, the Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, on August 20.
