Apple's newest iPhone 16e is launching today for pre-orders, and it might be the perfect phone for Brits who don't want to spend an absolute massive sum of cash.

Apple announced the new phone on Tuesday (February 18) after rumours touted that the California tech company was gearing up to launch a budget iPhone 16. Tim Cook showed off that the 16e would have Apple’s latest-generation A18 chip, which enables fast, smooth performance as well as great battery life.

It also comes with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with OLED technology and an edge-to-edge design that is perfect for watching HDR videos, playing games, and reading crisp text. You can also enjoy things like FaceID, an IP68-resistant phone, and a 48MP Fusion camera that takes gorgeous photos and videos. For a price of £599, it might be a great budget alternative if you don't need all the power of the original iPhone 16.

The phone is set to release on February 28th but pre-orders are set to open from 1pm - and we have the best place to pre-order the device if you want a contract price that won't break the bank. Mobiles.co.uk is our top place for contracts because you can compare some of the top carriers that won't rip you off.

Mobiles.co.uk compares Vodafone and iD Mobile, which offer great 24-month contracts that don't tie you in forever and allow you to pay a reasonable monthly price. We've found in the past that some contract deals are even cheaper than buying the phone outright!

There's also some great TrustPilot reviews with 4.3 stars out of five.. One shopper said: "Used Mobiles.co.uk a number of times over a number of years. Recommended many times and family and friends have also use on the back of recommendations. Always seem to have the best offers and love the auto-cashback option. 10 out of 10

Another shopper said: "I recently upgraded to a sim-only contract. I was given great advice to ensure that I purchased the correct plan based on my new handset. The price was very competitive too!"

Some shoppers did note that they had issues swapping their phone numbers to a new provider. One shopper said: "The PAC transfer was a bit of a hassle and took too long! It took a week to sort out. There is no contact number unless you area vulnerable customer."

We highly suggest scrolling down to find a range of the best deals because you might spot something that offers freebies, the right price, or the right amount of data. But if you're not interested in getting the iPhone 16e, it also has some great deals on other phones

Other places like Amazon and Currys will let you buy the phone outright if that's something you have been considering - but it's worth checking out Mobiles.co.uk first just in case you can get a data contract and phone for cheaper overall.

But if you want to shop around - and we highly suggest you do - there are other places to look if you want a good deal on the iPhone 16e. Sky offers a range of good prices if you don't mind dedicating yourself to a 36-month contract but they do let you swap the device every 24 months if you want to lock yourself in.

We also suggest looking at Carphone Warehouse for a good iPhone 16e deal. They have a wider range of carriers and will even let you upgrade through the website if your phone is looking old.
