Honda Malaysia announces 10-year hybrid battery and components warranty for e:HEV and i-DCD models
by Gerard Lye · Paul Tan's Automotive NewsAs part of its ongoing ‘Hybrid Done Right’ campaign, Honda Malaysia has announced that starting May 1, 2026, new e:HEV hybrid models sold in the country will come with a 10-year, unlimited-mileage hybrid battery and components warranty. This includes hybrid versions of the City, City Hatchback, HR-V, Civic and CR-V.
To further reinforce its commitment to hybrid technology, existing e:HEV as well as previous-generation i-DCD (Jazz, City and HR-V) customers will also benefit from the enhanced warranty.
To jog your memory, Honda Malaysia returned to the hybrid market in 2017 with the launch of the Jazz Hybrid, which debuted the Sport Hybrid i-DCD (Intelligent Dual-Clutch Drive) system. The newer e:HEV cars use the brand’s Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) system, which first appeared here in the fifth-generation City.
The hybrid battery warranty for these e:HEV and i-DCD cars has now been extended from eight years to 10 years with unlimited mileage. Meanwhile, selected hybrid components are now covered by an extended warranty of up to ten years, up from the previous five years.
Additionally, Honda Malaysia is extending the hybrid battery and components warranty coverage to second-hand e:HEV and i-DCD owners. With this, subsequent owners remain eligible for coverage when ownership is transferred, valid up to the tenth year of the warranty period. With this initiative, the company is improving the ownership value for customers of its hybrid models by providing them with long-term benefits and peace of mind.
